Laser Safety Precautions

1. Some lasers emit infrared and ultraviolet light invisible to the human eye when they are working. Do not check with your eyes because the laser is malfunctioning. When checking the laser, make sure that the laser is powered off.
2. Including laser failure, power failure and other situations that may cause the laser to stop working, please confirm that the laser is powered off before performing inspection work.


3. Do not look directly at the laser emission port even if you wear laser protective glasses.
4. Do not look directly at the reflected light of lasers above Class IV (>500mW). Please wear laser protective glasses when using such lasers.
5. It is forbidden to place flammable and explosive items and black paper, cloth, leather and other substances with low ignition points on the laser path (except for laser damage experiments)


6. Laser irradiation above Class IIIa (5mW) may cause burns to the human body, so please do not let this laser directly irradiate the human body.
7. Do not place the laser where non-professionals can touch it.
8. It is forbidden to direct the laser to the glass in front of you. Conventional glass has a reflectivity of about 4%, which may cause the reflected laser light to enter the eyes and cause damage.


9. When you build the experimental platform, there will be a "working plane" at the height of the laser emission port. Do not put your head close to this working plane during laser work, because the light reflected and transmitted by the lens and mirror group may enter the eyes cause some damages. Do not raise the laser emission port and reflector, otherwise the upward emitted laser may enter the eyes and cause injury.
10. When you are working with laser, please take off your watch to prevent the reflected light from the watch from entering your eyes and causing damage.


11. When using infrared lasers, lasers with a wavelength > 800nm are almost completely invisible. Please use a detector or an up-converter to determine the position of the laser.
12. Please note that the visual intensity of some wavelength bands of lasers (such as lasers with wavelengths lower than 430nm or higher than 700nm) will be significantly weaker than the actual intensity.
13. The peak power of pulsed (Q-switched, mode-locked, ultrafast) lasers is extremely high, which may cause damage to experimental components. Please confirm the damage resistance threshold of your experimental components before use.


14. It is forbidden to irradiate moving vehicles such as cars and airplanes
15. Please place a black metal plate at the end of the experimental environment to prevent the laser from leaking to the space outside the working area.


       
Laser advice:
1. When you use the laser, we strongly recommend that you wear laser protective glasses with the corresponding wavelength to protect your eyes from the threat of the laser.
2. We recommend that you wear long white clothes, so that even if the laser is irradiated on your body, it will not burn your clothes and cause a fire.
3. When using ultraviolet laser, we recommend that you apply sunscreen with SPF30 or above on the exposed skin surface to protect the skin from the influence of ultraviolet light.
