What is the problem with the poor marking effect of the fiber laser marking machine?

May 04,2023 | TOPTEK

1. Use defocused markers to mark a range of content
Because each focusing lens has a corresponding focal depth range, the way of defocusing is easy to cause a large-scale marking image, and the edge is at the focal point of the focal depth or beyond the focal depth range, which is relatively easy to cause invalid effects. Uniformity. Therefore, the method of out-of-focus marking must consider the problem of laser energy.

2. The laser output spot is blocked, that is, the laser beam passes through the galvanometer and the field mirror, and the spot is missing and not round enough.
Improper adjustment of the laser output head, fixing fixture, and vibrating mirror will cause part of the spot to be blocked when the laser passes through the vibrating mirror, and the spot will appear non-circular on the frequency doubling film after being converged by the field mirror, which may also lead to ineffective uniformity.

Another situation is that the deflection mirror of the galvanometer is damaged, and when the laser beam passes through the damaged area of the mirror, it cannot be reflected well. Therefore, the laser energy of the laser beam passing through the damaged area of the lens is inconsistent with the laser energy of the undamaged area of the lens, and the laser energy acting on the material is also different, so that the marking effect is not uniform.

3. Thermal lensing phenomenon
When the laser light passes through the optical lens (refraction, reflection), it will cause the lens to heat up and deform slightly. This deformation raises the focal point of the laser and shortens the focal length. If the machine is fixed, when the distance is adjusted to the focal point, after turning on the laser for a period of time, due to the thermal lens phenomenon, the laser energy density acting on the material will change, resulting in uneven marking effect.

4. Improper adjustment of the machine level, that is, the laser galvanometer or field mirror lens is not parallel to the processing table.
Since the two are not horizontal, the distance between the laser beam and the object to be processed will be inconsistent after passing through the objective lens. The laser energy that finally falls on the object to be processed will have inconsistent energy density, and the impact on the material will be different at this time.

5. Material reasons, such as inconsistent film thickness on the surface of the material or changes in physical and chemical properties
The material is sensitive to laser energy. Usually under the same material, it is inevitable that the laser energy reaches the material destruction threshold. When the coating thickness of the material is different, or some other physical and chemical treatment processes are not uniform enough, the effect after laser marking will also be uneven.
